Art Basel 2025 and Beyond: The Real Miami Art Week Guide

Art Basel is here.

So many events, so little time!!  How do you even pick without losing your mind?

As a local, I usually choose one or two things I absolutely want to see, get pulled into a couple of private events, and then do everything in my power to avoid the traffic nightmare because some of us still have to work and function.

With that said, I tried to pull a comprehensive list of event – good luck choosing!

Public Fairs You Should Seriously Consider

High Impact Visual Experiences

Museums, Collections and Serious Art Binge Options

Wider South Florida Highlights

If you want to escape the main Basel bubble and still feel plugged in, these are worth the drive or Brightline ride.

Art Week Hacks So You Don’t Spend It Sitting On A Causeway

The city finally admitted what locals already know. The traffic is ridiculous.  So this year they went heavy on free transit. Here’s the Transportation Guide with Map.

  • Free water taxi between Miami Beach and Downtown – Up to 7 boats run roughly every 10-15 minutes between Maurice Gibb Memorial Park on the Beach and Venetian Marina and Yacht Club in Downtown.
  • Free art shuttles between major fairs – dedicated shuttles connect the Convention Center with South Beach fairs and also run to Mid Beach and the Design District.  They look every 15 minutes.
  • Free Miami Beach trolley and bike options – the trolley runs free with extended hours during Art Week, and City Bike plus bike lanes make short hops easier than trying to park.

If you want to stay mostly sane, pick one anchor fair, one museum or collection and one neighborhood event, then layer in whatever invitations magically appear in your inbox.

Art Week turns the city into a giant, slightly unhinged open air museum, and that is part of the fun. Just remember that when Basel ends, Monday emails still remain (SIGH).
