For weeks, you cannot open Instagram without seeing dozens of umbrella shots. To think that a temporary art installation would draw saw much traffic to an area and become instafamous is really exciting.
The project is called The Umbrella Sky Project and the creators, Sextafeira, are from Portugal. The traveling installation has already hit cities like Paris and Lisbon and Coral Gables is the third city in the United States to welcome this world-famous installation.
In addition to instafame, the umbrella’s are bringing life to Coral Gable’s latest pedestrian mall, Giralda Plaza and business owners are ecstatic!
Lisa Petrillo, South Florida’s premiere Entertainment Reporter, tells us that the installation will be up until the end of August:
The entire project from inception to installation cost the city around $100 thousand dollars, but it certainly appears to be an investment that’s working.
And lastly, don’t forget to check out #umbrellasky on instagram to see all the creative photos of the installation.
