Miami Shores Living Magazine - features Ines Hegedus-Garcia

Thank You, Miami Shores Living Magazine

I’m so honored to be featured in the latest issue of Miami Shores Living Magazine. This beautiful publication does an incredible job of highlighting the people, places, and stories that make our village so special, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share a piece of my heart and history with the community.

Since the magazine does not have an online version, I wanted to share my article here and encourage you to look for the current issue in your mailbox or around town.

The Lines That Connect US

By Ines Hegedus-Garcia

When people ask me about my art, I usually smile and say, “It’s just a pen and some paper.” But it’s never just that. Each drawing holds memory, gratitude, and meaning. Every line carries intention, an appreciation for form, a love for place, and a deep connection to home.

I’ve lived in Miami Shores for over 40 years. It’s where I grew up, where I chose to raise my family, and where I’ve built a life with my husband and our three boys. I studied architecture because I’ve always been drawn to how people live, how spaces feel, how design tells a story. Eventually, I shifted into real estate and created the Miamism brand, a space where architecture, real estate, and lifestyle joined forces. What began as a blog became something more, a way to celebrate Miami through its homes, its people, and the way we live here.

Even as my professional life evolved, the art never stopped. Pen and ink renderings have always been my quiet place, a slower, more reflective way to capture what makes a home meaningful. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to use that art to give back to a community that has given me so much. One of the causes closest to my heart is the Heidi Hewes Chapter of the Woman’s Cancer Association of the University of Miami. It’s a powerhouse group of women (and some incredible men), who roll up their sleeves and get things done, not for recognition or glory, but because they care deeply about raising funds for cancer research, one event at a time.

I was once a volunteer myself and have always admired the dedication and impact of this group. Today, I continue to support the cause by donating custom pen and ink drawings of the homes featured in their beloved Walk for the Holidays event. These renderings are gifted to the homeowners as a heartfelt thank you for opening their doors to the community in support of cancer research.

Each drawing is a quiet tribute to the generosity of the homeowners and the spirit of the event itself. Some of these recipients have cried, hugged me, or hung the artwork in places of honor in their homes. I’ve come to realize that these renderings are more than ink on paper, they’re love letters to the spaces we call home, to the architecture that shapes our lives, and to the power of giving back.

Today, I co-own and run two real estate branches at Avanti Way East Miami with nearly 200 agents under my leadership. It’s busy. It’s demanding. But the pen is still close by. When I sit down to draw, everything else fades. The world becomes quiet. It’s just me, the lines, the textures, and the emotion each home evokes. It reminds me that even in a fast-moving digital world, there is still value in something handmade, something thoughtful.

The funny thing is, whether I’m leading a team, helping agents build their brands, or sketching a Mediterranean Revival on Grand Concourse, I’m chasing the same goal: legacy, meaning, and connection. Homes hold our stories, from festive gatherings to peaceful moments. In both my drawings and my real estate work, I’m always seeking to capture that essence, to preserve it or pass it on.

Miami Shores is full of beautiful homes, yes, but it’s the people who live in them and the way we show up for one another that makes this village truly special. I’m proud to be part of that, through my art, my work, and my continued support for the Heidi Hewes Chapter and all they do.

If you’ve never experienced the Walk for the Holidays, consider this your invitation. This year’s event will be held on Sunday, December 14. Come walk, be inspired, and maybe even fall a little more in love with our community. And if you’re moved by the mission, join the cause. You’ll be welcomed with open arms and maybe even with a pen and ink sketch in your future.
