The Power of Twitter in Miami

Twitter is the latest “CRAZE”! You hear about it on the radio, on TV – even Oprah and Ashton Kutcher have a Twitter accounts.  I’ve been on Twitter for over 2 years, does that make me a pioneer in the Social Media World?  Personally I don’t think so….I just think it takes traditional media a while to catch up to good concepts.

I wrote an article on Agent Genius about people joining for business and thinking they will get quick and magical results.  I also wrote about how broadcasting tweets goes so against the true meaning of social media and engaging others….but I digress…..how does Twitter help me in Miami?  I don’t care how much people talk about ROI (Return on Investment) and how preoccupied they are about new media being a waste of time, especially for Miami Real Estate Business –  here’s the perfect testimonial.

This week I had a terrible cold and posted about it on Twitter and the following conversation continued:

Steve Roitstein (aka “@gopalo” on Twitter) is the producer and keyboard player for Palo, a Miami band that plays Afro-Cuban Funk.   As soon as Steve heard I had a cold, he volunteered to make me chicken soup (Sopa de Pollo).  Not only did he make the soup, but delivered it to my house!  Talk about the Power of Twitter!!

So now it’s my turn to pay it forward – make sure you check out Palo

other ways to contact Steve and Palo:

  1. Dear, dear Ines. I would make you soup too. Personal delivery however, involves a lot more commitment to make a hot delivery from Vancouver. I’ll have to follow @respres’s steps and just make it virtual. :>)

Glad to hear you are back on your feet.

  2. Hi Larry – but I know without a doubt, that you would have done a personal delivery if you lived closer (wink wink) – thank you!! 🙂
